How much personal power can you access in your daily life? How powerful, effective and engaging are you in your life and interactions with others? As one of my mentors Dr. Richard Moss put it to me, “What can you do to become even more effective and to “stand in the light of your own authority?”
Personal power is the key to a life of effectiveness and of authenticity. If you can not access the power to stand against opposition, to speak up even when afraid, to find the strength to do what is required in the moment or to act in spite of the emotions of the moment, then you are at the “effect” of events and other people. You are not at “cause” in you life. Another way to express this is to ask, “Are you the author of your life story or just a character and actor in the story line?”
Personal power starts first with sinking deeply into the roots of your being-ness – to take the time to answer, “What is my purpose in this lifetime? What am I here to express and offer to the world?” Dr. Richard Thurman, who was a mentor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. put it this way, “Find out what makes you come alive and then go and do that. For what the world needs are people who have come alive.”
What are you doing to fully come alive? How are you expressing it in your life, your actions and your thoughts? Outline and then claim your purpose in life. Notice the content of your thoughts and notice whether they are enabling thought forms or disabling and self-limiting. Challenge your thinking to be in alignment with your purpose, that which most helps you come to life and then find ways every day to express it in your work, home and private moments.
Claim the fullness of your life! Express yourself with an open heart! Be who you were meant to be in this lifetime. As you do this, personal power begins to flow through you and then out into all you touch.
